The San Manuel Band of Mission Indians signed a side agreement with California in order to gain legislative approval of its gaming compact.
The tribe had been holding out after Democrats scuttled the compact. But the tribe changed its mind in the final days of the legislative session and agreed to address other issues such as minimum internal control standards and financial audits.
The San Manuel Band's side agreement, however, isn't as broad as the one signed by four other tribes.
Those tribes are facing a challenge at the polls to overturn legislative approval of their compacts.
The compact allows the San Manuel Band to add up to 5,500 slot machines. The state gets a cut of the revenues.
