Two tribes and their developers haven't given up on building a casino in Kansas.
The Iowa Tribe of Kansas and Nebraska and the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation are part of a development group that includes former Wichita Mayor Bob Knight. The group wanted to build a casino in Sedgwick County but voters there rejected the idea.
The tribes have now turned their eyes to Sumner County. They say they will spend between $300 million and $400 million on the casino, which could generate 2,500 jobs.
A new state law authorizes one casino-style development.
