The Marion County Council meets today to decide on a bingo hall that would be operated by the Catawba Nation of South Carolina.
The tribe is in discussions with a group called Marion Amphitheatre LLC to operate a bingo hall at a 249-acre site in the county. Final contracts haven't been signed, the tribe's attorney said.
The tribe is allowed to engage in some forms of gaming under state law but is barred from the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act.
