Voters in Middleboro, Massachusetts, overwhelmingly approved a casino agreement with the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe last month. Residents in neighboring towns now want a piece of the action.
Towns within a 10-mile radius of Middleboro say they should have a role in any decisions made about the casino. They are worried about potential negative impacts on their communities if the $1 billion facility is built.
Seventeen towns formed a task force to advance their issues.
A nearby town has already voted against the casino.
