The Pala Band of Mission Indians of California will spend more than $38 million to improve roads near the Pala Casino.
The tribe reached the agreement with San Diego County in order to expand the casino. The tribe's 2004 compact requires the tribe to address impacts of gaming.
The improvement projects include $13 million to convert the road where the casino sits from two lanes to four lanes. Another $25 million will spent on other improvements.
The tribe plans to spend $100 million to expand the casino.. Construction is expected to start next year and take about 1.5 years.
