The Pennsylvania Supreme Court on Monday rejected a challenge to the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation's proposed casino in Philadelphia.
The tribe is working with a group of investors to open a Foxwoods casino in South Philadelphia. The group won a license from the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board for the project.
A competitor sued the board, alleging procedural irregularities. But the court, by a 4-1 vote, upheld the license [Majority Opinion | Dissenting Opinion].
The tribe hopes to break ground on the casino later this summer and open the facility by 2009.
