Local officials say the Gila River Indian Community of Arizona probably won't relocate one of its casinos to a site that has generated opposition.
The tribe announced plans to move the Lone Butte Casino to a site near the city of Chandler. Residents and officials there immediately expressed objections, citing concerns over traffic and safety.
But after talking with Gila River Gov. William Rhodes, Chandler Mayor Boyd Dunn and State Sen. Jay Tibshraeny say the tribe is looking at other options. No final decisions have been made, said Tibshraeny.
