The union trying to organize workers at the casino owned by the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation in Connecticut is alleging intimidation by casino manager.
The United Automobile, Aerospace and Agricultural Implement Workers of America started a petition drive over the weekend. Bob Madore, a regional director for UAW, told The New London Day that casino managers have been "intervening" in the process.
He said "they have started to launch a campaign interrogating employees as to why they're soliciting a union, and it's very questionable in terms of the way they're doing it, and it could be potentially unlawful.” A new site has been set up to promote the union [http://www.uawatfoxwoods.org].
The UAW wants to organize about 3,500 card dealers and other employees, about a third of the workforce, The Hartford Courant reported.
