The Mashantucket Tribal Nation of Connecticut expects some employees of the Foxwoods Resort Casino to try and organize at least one union.
The tribe says it is not pro- or anti-union. But Chairman Michael J. Thomas and Foxwoods President John O'Brien have told employees that unions may not be in their best interests.
According to The New London Day, "large numbers" of Foxwoods employees have been meeting with the United Auto Workers and other unions at off-reservation locations. Foxwoods has over 10,000 employees.
UAW won't confirm that it is trying to organize at Foxwoods but a regional director said there is interest.
