NIGC voids Cheyenne-Arapaho management contract

The National Indian Gaming Commission on Wednesday nullified the management contract between the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes of Oklahoma and Southwest Casino and Hotel Corporation.

NIGC Chairman Phil Hogen refused to extend the existing contract. He said Southwest and tribal leaders violated tribal law by locking Gov. Darrell Flyingman, who refused to sign the contract, out of the process.

Hogen also said NIGC Is investigating allegations that Southwest exerted "undue influence" in an attempt to extend the contract. Flyingman has accused Southwest of plying tribal members with trips and other benefits.

Without a federally-approved management contract, Southwest can't have a role in the tribe's facilities.
