The Quapaw Tribe of Oklahoma on Monday announced plans for a $200 million casino in northeastern Oklahoma.

The Downstream Casino Resort will be located at the Three-States Monument, where Oklahoma, Kansas and Arkansas meet. The facility will include a 70,000-square-foot casino, a 240-room hotel, restaurants, shops and a 10,000-square-foot meeting facility.

“Our resort will be unlike anything in the region,” Quapaw Chairman John Berrey said, The Joplin Globe reported. “It will be a destination resort that attracts tourist dollars from outside of the region."

The gaming facility is being built on 85 acres of Quapaw land in Oklahoma and is set to open in July 2008, followed 90 days later by the hotel. The tribe has acquired 235 acres in all three states for the project.

The tribe also brought in some big names and investors, including G. Michael “Mickey” Brown, a former New Jersey gaming executive who worked for the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation in Connecticut and the Seneca Nation in New York.
