SIx California tribes will go before state lawmakers next week to seek ratification of their gaming compacts.
The tribes include five of the most successful in the state. The compacts would allow them to operate more slot machines in exchange for sharing revenues.
The deals were blocked last year by Democrats, who objected to provisions that labor unions opposed. This time around, Democrats have signed on as sponsors for some of the compact bills.
The sixth compact is for the Yurok Tribe, which does not yet engage in gaming.
