The Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians will continue to push for an off-reservation casino in Jackson County, Chief Phillip Martin said.
Martin said the tribe will abide by the results of a non-binding referendum on the casino. The county set the vote this November, although Martin has asked for a November 2008 vote.
The tribe wants to build a $375 million casino resort in Ocean Springs, more than 200 miles from the reservation. The site is near a major interstate.
