The Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians is not negotiating a new compact with the state of California, Chairman Vincent Armenta said.
Opponents of the tribe have suggested the tribe wants up to 5,000 slot machines at the Chumash Casino. But Armenta said the facility can't handle that many new machines.
Armenta also said rumors of a second casino are untrue. But he said the tribe would like to add more hotel rooms and parking.
