The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation of Connecticut is moving ahead with a $700 million expansion at the Foxwoods Resort Casino.
The tribe partnered with gaming giant MGM Mirage to create the new facility. The 30-floor hotel tower and casino will feature the MGM Grand name.
At a ceremony yesterday, the tribe and MGM signed their names to a steel beam that topped off the tower. Chairman Michael Thomas said the facility was only the beginning of their partnership.
The facility is expected to open in May 2008. It will add another 1,800 to 2,000 jobs to the casino, which employs over 10,000 people.
