The New Mexico Senate voted 27-14 on Tuesday to approve new gaming compacts with 10 tribes.
The agreement allows tribes to operate until 2037 and imposes limits on non-Indian gaming facilities. In exchange, the tribes will exchange more of their slot machine revenues -- up to 10.75 percent -- with the state.
The House has to take up the compacts before Gov. Bill Richardson can sign them.
