The Match-E-Be-Nash-She-Wish Band of Pottawatomi Indians, also known as the Gun Lake tribe, signed a Class III gaming compact with Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm (D) on Friday.
The tribe agrees to share up to 18 percent of electronic gaming revenues with the state, depending on gross take. This sliding-scale provision is not found in other Michigan tribal compacts. Additionally, the tribe will share 2 percent of revenues with local communities.
The tribe plans to start work on a $200 million casino as soon as its land goes into trust. An anti-gaming group lost a challenge in federal court but filed an appeal.
