The Seneca Nation of New York says it will respond to a subpoena issued by the National Indian Gaming Commission.
The tribe was refusing to turn over documents to NIGC as part of an ongoing investigation into use of a gaming revenues. Neither the tribe nor NIGC will elaborate but news reports say the probe relate to per capita payments.
The tribe has been making annual payments to tribal members but apparently lacks an approved revenue allocation plan. The tribe says the money comes from its land claim settlement fund and not from gaming.
