A group representing non-Indian casinos in the Gulf Coast is suing the Bureau of Indian Affairs to obtain records and correspondence with the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians.
Coast Businesses for Fair Play claims the BIA has failed to provide all the documents related to the tribe's pursuit of an off-reservation casino in the Gulf Coast. "We got about a dozen records. That's definitely not the totality of the records," an attorney was quoted as saying.
The tribe wants to open a casino in Ocean Springs, more than 200 miles from the reservation. Non-Indian casinos and religious groups are hoping to kill the proposal.
