Former model Anna Nicole Smith died today after she collapsed at the Seminole Tribe's casino resort in Hollywood, Florida. She was 39.

Smith was staying at the Seminole Hard Rock Cafe Hotel and Casino with her husband. She was pronounced dead at a hospital after she collapsed and became unresponsive.

The Seminole Tribe's police department announced the death today at a press conference. Police Chief Charlie Tiger said tribal officers responded to a 911 call at the casino for someone needing medical assistance. He said Smith was a frequent guest at the resort [Video of Press Conference]

Tiger said the cause of death will be determined after an autopsy, to be conducted by the Broward County Medical Examiner's Office.

Although the casino is located on Indian land, Florida falls under Public Law 280, which grants the state jurisdiction over criminal and civil activities on the reservation.
