Nottawaseppi Huron Band hopes to break ground

$stalker The Nottawaseppi Huron Band of Potawatomi Indians hopes to break ground on its long-delayed casino later this year.

The tribe filed a land-into-trust application to use 79 acres in Emmett Township, Michigan, for a casino. A lawsuit filed by opponents delayed the acquisition of the land for several years.

After beating back several challenges, the Bureau of Indian Affairs agreed to take the land into trust on December 12, 2006. But Citizens Exposing Truth About Casinos has one more appeal pending.
