The Eastern Band of Cherokee
Indians approved a $650 million expansion of its North Carolina casino.
The project will double the size of the Harrah's
Cherokee Casino. It will increase gaming and hotel space, and bring in more retail options and other amenities. Another 1,000 jobs will be created.
Construction could start by midyear, with completion of the project by 2010. Additional details will be released today.
