An unrecognized New Jersey tribe says it will settle its land claim against the state in exchange for gaming rights.
The Unalachtigo Band of the Nanticoke Lenni-Lenape Nation wants to build a Vegas-like strip on 1,500 acres across the river from New York City. "Envision the Bellagio, the Wynn, Paris Las Vegas, Mandalay Bay and the Luxor facing Manhattan," a tribal leader told The New York Post.
The tribe also wants another 1,500 acres in the southern part of the state to develop more casinos. The tribe says it is owed the land for the illegal sale of a 3,000-acre reservation.
