Narragansett Tribe casino campaign cost $17.8M

Harrah’s Entertainment spent $17.8 million trying to convince Rhode Island voters to approve a casino for the Narragansett Tribe, The Providence Journal reports.

More than $6.1 million was spent in the final two weeks before Election Day. Despite the big spending, 63 percent of voters rejected the proposal.

The campaign was the most expensive in state history. The opposition group Save Our State spent at least $4 million.
