Washington tribes to host annual gaming summit

The Washington Indian Gaming Association is hosting the fourth annual Northwest Gaming Law Summit this week in Seattle.

Tribal, federal and state officials will meet at the Washington State Convention & Trade Center to discuss some of the top issues affecting the $23 billion Indian gaming industry. Items on the agenda include the proposed limits on Class II gaming, the ban Internet gaming, proposed amendments to the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act and off-reservation gaming.

"State-tribal regulatory oversight of Indian gaming is working in Washington and throughout Indian Country," said WIGA Chairman Ron Allen. "Tribal governments are managing and enhancing their gaming operations in keeping with IGRA and state-tribal compact commitments, and as a result our communities’ interests are being respected and protected."
