Mashantucket Tribe headed to court for slot revenues

The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation and the state of Connecticut have agreed to go to court over revenues from a slot machine promotion.

The tribe shares 25 percent of slot revenues with the state. But $50 "Free Slot Play" coupons issued by Foxwoods Resort Casino have the state complaining that it is being deprived revenues.

By the state's calculation, the promotion was worth $1.4 million. That is a small portion of the $17.2 million the tribe shared with the state last month.

The lawsuit over the promotion will be filed in state court. The tribe agreed to waive its sovereign immunity.
