Two tribes with plans to build casinos hundreds of miles from their reservations expressed hope after the state of California signed a new gaming compact.
The Los Coyotes Band of Cahuilla and Cupeno Indians and the Big Lagoon Rancheria signed a compact for side-by-side casinos in Barstow. But the deal was opposed by wealthy gaming tribes like the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians.
Now that the Agua Caliente Band has negotiated a compact to expands its gaming empire, Los Coyotes and Big Lagoon leaders say there deal should go through as well.
