Oklahoma tribes oppose limits on Class II machines

Oklahoma tribes assailed the National Indian Gaming Commission's proposal to restrict the use of Class II machines.

Tribal leaders said the regulations will destroy their industry and put them at the mercy of the state. During a consultation with the NIGC, Mike Bailey, the assistant chief of the Choctaw Nation, said tribes will have no choice "but to let the negotiations go however the state wants," The Oklahoman reported.

NIGC says the rules are needed to clarify the difference between Class II and Class III games. Technological advances have blurred the lines, federal officials say.
