NIGA-commissioned poll shows support for tribes

A poll commissioned by the National Indian Gaming Association finds that a majority of Americans support tribal gaming.

Of 1,000 registered voters surveyed nationwide, nearly 65 percent support Indian gaming. When asked specific questions about tribal casinos, 81 percent said tribes benefit from gaming, 78 percent said gaming provides essential revenues for tribes and 77 percent said casinos provide jobs for tribal members.

According to the poll, 70 percent support the tribal, state and federal framework that regulates Indian gaming. Of respondents, 74 percent believe tribal casinos are well regulated.
