Supervisors in Sonoma County, California, approved a resolution to support
S.2078, amendments to the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act that would restrict off-reservation gaming.
The bill is sponsored by Sen. John McCain (R-Arizona), the chairman of the Senate Indian Affairs Committee. It would make it harder for tribes to acquire land for casinos and eliminate certain types of casino proposals altogether.
Last week, the bill was placed on the Senate calendar, meaning it could be called for a vote soon.
