Editorial: Review Mashantucket-MGM deal

"Michael J. Thomas, chairman of the Mashantucket Pequots, described a newly formed partnership with MGM Mirage as putting the Indian tribe on track to build 'the biggest resort ever seen.'

Visions of Las Vegas in bucolic Ledyard abound. Too bad no one ran the particulars past state leaders on their way to the celebration.

Attorney General Richard Blumenthal and Paul Young, executive director of the state Division of Special Revenue, should be given documents they requested pertaining to the alliance so that they can be satisfied that the compact, which does not permit MGM to own a casino in Connecticut, is being upheld."
