The Viejas Band of Kumeyaay Indians is opening a $25 million expansion of its casino tomorrow.
The 48,000-square-foot addition will boost the number of slot machines at the Viejas Casino to 2,500. This is the most of any tribe in San Diego County, The San Diego Union-Tribune reported.
The tribe was one of the first to sign new compacts with Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger (R). In exchange for an unlimited number of slot machines, the tribe is sharing more revenues with the state, paying fees for the machines and is addressing off-reservation impacts of the casino.
