City warned about Eastern Shawnee casino deal

The legal director in Massillon, Ohio, is warning city leaders not to jump into a casino agreement with the Eastern Shawnee Tribe of Oklahoma.

Director Pericles Stergios said the proposed intergovernmental agreement leaves a lot of questions unanswered. He is worried about revenue sharing provisions and the tribe's sovereignty.

The tribe is considering several sites in Ohio for gaming, and several communities have agreed to host a casino. The tribe wants Massillon to sign an agreement by the end of the month.
