The Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians approved a new 400-room hotel at its casino in Rancho Mirage.
The tribe waited an additional two weeks to make a decision after officials in Rancho Mirage and Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger (R) sought a delay. The city presented the tribe with a list of demands, which appear to have been rejected.
The tribe has agreed to a number of financial, environmental and legal considerations, including the sharing of hotel occupancy taxes with the city.
