A 29-year-old member of the Gila River Indian Community was sentenced to more than 12 years in prison for an attempted robbery at the Tohono O'odham Nation's Desert Diamond Casino.
Alex Jackson used to work at the casino. He tried to rob it on August 5, 2005, discharging a firearm in the process. He left the casino after other employees refused to give him any money.
After being indicted, Jackson pleaded guilty to charges of attempted robbery and use of a firearm in relation to a crime of violence. He was sentenced on Monday.
