Minority lawmakers in Rhode Island endorsed the Narragansett Tribe's casino after Chief Sachem Matthew Thomas faced "tough" questions about the proposal.
Thomas stood with the Rhode Island Minority-Leadership/Legislative Caucus as the group publicly supported Question 1 on the November ballot. The question asks voters to approve the tribe's casino, with Harrah's Entertainment as partner.
Members of the caucus said the casino will generate jobs for minorities and minority communities. The tribe touts 3,200 casino jobs and 3,000 construction jobs.
