The Lac du Flambeau Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians updated the city of Shullsburg, Wisconsin, on plans for an off-reservation casino.
The casino has been in the works for more than five years. The tribe has filed an application for a two-part determination under Section 20 of the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act.
The tribe says the Bureau of Indian Affairs will be taking comment on the project sometime soon. Plans call for a 630,000 square-foot casino, a 390-room hotel, a convention center and other amenities. The casino would employ 800 to 1,500 people.
