The Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma has lost a request to rezone land for a casino parking lot a recreational vehicle park.
The tribe owns a casino in Pocola, Oklahoma. But the proposed parking lot and RV park is within the jurisdiction of Fort Smith, Arkansas.
As part of a $10 million expansion of the casino, the tribe asked the Fort Smith Planning Commission to rezone the site. But the commission rejected the request, saying the tribe failed to consult with a neighbor who opposes the development.
