Plans by the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation to open a new resort are facing some opposition in southeastern Connecticut.
The tribe and its partner MGM Mirage are considering some zoning changes in the town of Ledyard. They are hoping to build a destination resort on 300 acres the tribe owns.
Officials in the nearby town of Preston are worried about the development and its impact on the community. So is the Southeastern Connecticut Council of Governments Reference Committee, whose members say the zoning changes should be rejected.
The land in question is next to the tribe's reservation.
