The Narragansett Tribe of Rhode Island is trying to sort out issues surrounding its casino proposal as a statewide vote approaches.
Chief Sachem Matthew Thomas met with supporters and Harrah's Entertainment executives to discuss the nuts and bolts of the project. The casino will be located in Ward 5 in the town of West Warwick.
Among the issues discussed at the meeting were the size of the project, the layout of the facility and the impact on the town. A "buffer zone" has been designed to try and protect neighbors from light and sound.
The tribe needs to amend the state constitution to authorize the casino. Voters will consider the proposal on November 7.
