Two Navajo Nation Council committees approved a statement to oppose H.R.4893, a bill sponsored by Rep. Richard Pombo (R-California) that would restrict off-reservation gaming.
Navajo Nation Council Speaker Lawrence T. Morgan said the measure would stop the tribe from pursuing certain gaming projects at a future date. "One day we may want to set up gaming in other areas," he said, The Gallup Independent reported.
The bill is being considered at a markup of the House Resources Committee today.
