A federal judge scheduled an August 7 hearing on a ballot referendum that would legalize a casino for the Narragansett Tribe of Rhode Island.
The town of Johnson and a gaming company linked to Donald Trump filed the suit. They say that the tribe's proposed amendment to the state constitution violates the U.S. Constitution.
The tribe has partnered with Harrah's Entertainment to build a casino in West Warwick. The issue will appear on the November ballot. The deadline to print the ballots is August 9, two days after the court hearing.
