Executives at Sandia Pueblo in New Mexico are trying to turn the tribe's casino resort into a world class destination.
Sandia Resort and Casino is located just outside Albuquerque and sits beneath the Sandia Mountains. The casino opened in 2003, followed this past January by a resort that features a 228-room hotel, spa and golf course.
At the helm are general manager Shon Yazdan and assistant general manager Stuart Paisano, the tribe's former governor. Paisano says the tribe's vision from the start was to create a unique experience for visitors.
