The Rhode Island House voted 44-28 in favor of a bill asks state voters to authorize a casino for the Narragansett Tribe.
The bill goes onto the Senate. If approved, it would place the casino referendum on the November ballot.
To legalize the casino, the tribe and partner Harrah's Entertainment need voter approval to amend the state constitution. Prior efforts have been defeated in the courts.
