The Voter Initiative Alliance, a group promoting the voter initiative process, is refusing to back the Narragansett Tribe's bid for a public vote on a proposed casino.
Narragansett Chief Sachem Matthew Thomas had written the group, seeking the endorsement of the casino initiative. But the group said it doesn't endorse specific proposals.
The tribe is seeking to amend the state constitution to authorize a casino in Rhode Island.
