The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation, owner of the Foxwoods Casino in Connecticut, is proposing a $350 million casino in South Philadelphia.
Dubbed Foxwoods Casino Philadelphia, the project would feature 3,000 slot machines, several restaurants, and an entertainment venue. The tribe says it would generate 954 jobs and $29.2 million in tax revenue for the city. A hotel and spa would be added during a second phase to create 1,780 jobs and $45.5 million in tax revenue, the tribe says [Foxwoods Casino Proposal].
Slot machines are legal in Pennsylvania. The tribe and its local investors are seeking to win one of two licenses being awarded in Philadelphia.
The Mohegan Tribe, also of Connecticut, is seeking a slot license.
