The Snoqualmie Tribe of Washington can start construction on a $90 million casino after winning approval for an initial reservation.
The tribe was recognized through the Bureau of Indian Affairs process in 1999. Its 56-acre initial reservation qualifies for gaming under an Indian Gaming Regulatory Act exception for newly recognized tribes [Federal Register Notice].
The casino site is 27 miles east of Seattle, according to The Seattle Times. Three other casinos are located in the area but the Snoqualmie facility will be the closest to Seattle, the paper said.
Construction will start in June.
