Compact negotiations with the state of North Carolina are going well, the chief of the Eastern Band of the Cherokee Indians said.
The tribe is negotiating for the ability to offer Class III table games, including craps, blackjack and poker. Chief Michell Hicks said an agreement could be near. A state official said an agreement has been reached in principle.
