The town and village board in Saugerties, New York, have joined forces with a group opposed to the Seneca-Cayuga Tribe's proposed casino.
The town and village board had previously voted not to share legal counsel with the No Saugerties Casino. But both entities reversed their decisions this week.
The Seneca-Cayuga Tribe, based in Oklahoma, proposed a large casino at the site of the Woodstock '94 concert. The idea has not advanced due to major legal issues surrounding the ability for tribes to claim sovereignty on ancestral lands.
