Maine lawmakers plan to introduce a bill to call for a referendum on a tribal casino in Washington County after a similar bill was vetoed by Gov. John Baldacci (D).
The Passamaquoddy Tribe is already circulating a petition to put the casino on the November ballot. The legislation to be introduced would set a county-wide vote in June.
Baldacci vetoed the casino bill because he opposes gaming. Lawmakers upheld the veto on Tuesday.
